Our World Anvil community includes many published authors, including some who are based in the UK. So when we learn about opportunities for our members to achieve recognition for their hard work, we like to pass it along!
We recently learned that submissions are now open for the 2026 Aldiss Award for World-Building, celebrating outstanding achievement in speculative fiction and gaming.
Following the announcement of last year’s winner at the opening of the BSFA World Convention Awards Evening, UK publishers — independent presses and publishing houses alike — are invited to submit eligible works published during 2025.
Last year’s Aldiss Award was awarded to The Dance of Shadows. The Aldiss Award honours creators whose work demonstrates imagination, coherence, and ambition in the construction of original worlds, continuing the legacy of Brian Aldiss.
Key details:
- Eligibility: UK-published speculative fiction and gaming works released in 2025
- Submission deadline: 31 March 2026
- Entry fees & guidelines: £50 for independent authors, £100 for publishers (allowing them to make multiple submissions)
