🌟 Community highlight: Fate’s Misfits
For this month’s community highlight, gather around the fireplace for the epic tale of five misfits who reshaped the epic fantasy world of Varisia. Created by Make lore, not war, this won the Most Beautiful World category, chosen by Cody Pondsmith, in the Worldbuilding Awards 2026! Check out Fate’s Misfits.

Here’s what Make lore, not war, the author, had to say about this:
When I first started writing Fate’s Misfits, I was trying to figure out how to tell a story set in an existing world like Pathfinder and really make it mine. The breakthrough came when I realized that what I loved most about our long-running campaign wasn’t just the adventures, but the characters.
Tabletop RPGs are one of my greatest passions, and these characters have become genuine friends to me. That might sound strange to some people, but I have a feeling most beans on World Anvil know exactly what I mean. Being able to tell their stories and watch their lives receive the Most Beautiful World award has been completely unexpected and absolutely thrilling!
Fate’s Misfits is, above all, a love letter to our forever GM, my wonderful husband, Arktouro, and to all the unforgettable moments we shared around the table.
World Anvil gave those memories a home. It turned years of adventures into something I could share with others. On top of that, it brought some incredible new friends into my life, and for that I’ll always be thankful.
