The Dungeons & Dragons 2024 revision is here, with a bunch of changes intended to make the game even more fun to play! And of course, you can also play it on World Anvil with our new D&D 2024 sheets. Let’s take a look at what this update brings to the table!

Thanks to the amazing Tillerz, from our community, we have a new character sheet that’s fully integrated with our campaign manager. Whether you play in person with digital support or fully remote, we’ve got you covered!

Check this example character to see how a completed sheet looks—and check how to create a character on Learn for more details.

If you’re using the World Anvil campaign manager, ask your DM for the invite link to join the campaign! If you’re the DM, check the Gamemaster’s workflow for details on how to get the invite link, edit your player’s sheets, and more!

What are the main differences between 5e and the 2024 revision?

First of all, the 2024 revision is still 5e! Characters created with the revised rules are still compatible with all published 5e content, because the core of the system hasn’t changed. But here’s a quick run-down of the main changes to the rules that affect character sheets:

  • Backgrounds got a power-up: in the new rules, Backgrounds will give you an ability score increase and an origin feat, on top of the usual proficiencies and starting gear.
  • Fighting styles are feats: the fighting styles that used to be class features for Fighters, Rangers, and Paladins are now considered feats.
  • Weapon Mastery makes combats more dynamic: martial classes (Fighters, Barbarians, Paladins, etc.) have a new Weapon Mastery class feature that makes combat epic and dynamic even if your character can’t fling spells at their enemies!
  • Tools and crafting details: the 2024 revision finally explains in detail how to use the tools you can get (such as Tinker’s Tools, Carpenter’s Tools, etc.)

There are some other changes, such as Grappling and Shoving now being considered Unarmed Strikes, cats having darkvision, and race being renamed to species. But that’s the quick tl;dr!

Worldbuilding for Dungeons & Dragons 2024

If you’re a DM, you know that character sheets are only the tip of the iceberg! Spells, monsters, feats… D&D has a lot of different kinds of statblock. Well, we’ve got all of them for Dungeons & Dragons 2024! For some examples, see the goat statblock and the Zone of Truth spell. And even better news? Many of the statblocks in the free rules are already added to our community library, including many classes, spells, and backgrounds.

To use a statblock in an article, just scroll down and find the “link/embed” section—click one of the copy buttons and paste it into any article:

For more information, learn how to embed a statblock on Learn.

So, are you already moving to D&D 2024? Why, or why not? Let us know in the comments! <3
