Summer Camp has begun! And with it, a bunch of awesome quality of life updates to make your creative life easier, and some information about upcoming events.

Dev updates this month

🕸️ New Diplomacy Webs

This update streamlines Diplomacy Webs to make relationship management easier than ever. It’s the feature you’re used to with a fresh coat of paint and oiled gears! You’ll find it in the edit article interface, under the new “Relationships” button in the Organization template:

Check the guide to Diplomacy Webs for more information!

🌳 New Family Trees

Family Trees have ALSO been streamlined and moved to the new edit interface! Not only that, you can now directly link characters to spouses and children. Preview the family tree as you create it, create or link characters to the tree, and set up the extended Relationships all from the same screen.

✅ To-do List and Mass Edit are available to everyone!

If you have a free account, rejoice! These two features are now available to everyone, even Freemen:

  • Mass Edit: Select multiple images and edit them all at once! So if you have multiple images to move into a folder or gallery, or you want to add the same art credits to many images, you can now do so in a single operation. Check the Learn guide to learn how this works!
  • To-Do List: Organize your worldbuilding plans right on World Anvil with our to-do list! Its integration with the rest of World Anvil lets you link to-do items to articles and access it as you work on your world. Check the guide to the to-do list for details!

👁️ See who’s editing each article

This is a massive quality of life update if you have co-authors in your world! Now, when someone’s editing an article, their profile picture will appear next to the article title and you will be blocked from editing it until they finish. This prevents editing conflicts, which could previously result in you losing some of your content.

🌟 Community highlight: Oniran

Oniran, by Jontaro, is one of the most beautiful worlds on World Anvil—so much so that it won in the Artist’s Most Beautiful category in the Worldbuilding Awards 2026! It’s a vibrant world born of love, community, and passion, brimming with the author’s high-energy writing style. Check out Oniran!

Here’s what Jontaro, its author, had to say about his work:

Brother I’m gonna give it to ya straight, Imma keep it a buck, even, I’m not gonna lie or sugarcoat it or lay it down easy. This world, what I’ve created on this platform, is easily one of the biggest passions of my life. I may not have been able to create anything in a hot minute but this world is something I continue to think about and prod at and gaze upon as it rotates in my mind like food in a microwave like every single day.

It’s been a rough few years for ya boy, but the friends I’ve made in this community have genuinely done SO much for me and have pushed me to make some of my finest work. Whether it be a challenge article, a one shot, a short story anthology, a zine for some reason, or the adventure module I plan to make in the future, they’ve always been there to listen to my insane ramblings just to see what I make next.

Winning Artist’s Most Beautiful World is just a bonus on top of all that, getting to be like “Yeah I’m an artist AND a writer and I choose to suffer creatively twice” was already sick but now you’re telling me I have the sauce to back it up? A trophy, even? Officially Sanctioned Bragging Rights if you will??? Now THAT’S pretty sick, and I have this community to thank for it.

I’ve been meaning to make a journal post like this for a while now, but a testimonial in the newsletter is like the next best thing, methinks. Anyways, that’s all for now. Thanks for everything and have a good one!!!
