Wouldn’t it be awesome if you could mass edit images on World Anvil? Like, update artist credits, move images around, add subscriber groups or change privacy settings on a whole bunch of images at once?

Well, if you’re a grandmaster or above, this feature is now available to play with as part of our Alchemist Tester programme!

Mass Editing Images in the Image Manager

This feature hasn’t been released to everyone yet, but if you have alchemist features enabled, you’ll already be able to try this out!

  1. Open your Images interface from the left sidebar
  2. At the top right, you’ll now see a button that says Multiselect! Click it to get started
  3. A small checkbox will appear on your images – select the ones you want to amend, then at the bottom, click Select Changes or hit the delete button to mass delete.
  4. You’ll be able to update a whole host of options. You can choose one option to edit, or multiple options at once!
  • Move to Folder
  • Change Privacy
  • Add Subscriber Groups
  • Remove Subscriber Groups
  • Replace Subscriber Groups
  • Add Tags
  • Remove Tags
  • Replace Tags
  • Change Description
  • Update Artist Credit
  • Toggle Favorite
  • Assign to Gallery
  • Move to World

Can’t see the Multiselect button? Make sure you have your alchemist features enabled (see how below!).

How to turn on/off alchemist features

If you’re a grandmaster or above, you can go play with this right now!

  • Click your profile image (the circle) in the top right of the interface
  • Select Features from the menu
  • Find the Alchemist Panel (it’s towards the bottom) and click to enable or disable the features!

If you’d rather not have early tester access to features in final development, you can turn these features off in the same way.

When’s mass editing images going live?

The simple answer is: when it’s ready! We’re hoping to launch the feature at the beginning of the new year. A massive thank you to Stephan and the team who’ve been working hard to deliver this last little treat before the holidays!
