The biggest worldbuilding challenge of the year is just around the corner—and you can help make it even more awesome! Want to sponsor a category for WorldEmber 2025 and see your name in lights? You’ll get a crack at being a worldbuilding judge, all while giving back to the amazing World Anvil community. If you’re interested in becoming one of the Summer Camp community sponsors, read on!

WHAT’S A WORLDEMBER SPONSOR?

WorldEmber community sponsors are the amazing generous beans that make WorldEmber even more amazing! There are two types of sponsor:

  • Special Category sponsors get a special category (there’s one for each article template) and have to choose one winner among all submissions in that category—the winner gets the prize offered by the sponsor. As a prompt sponsor, you’re free to judge based on your own criteria!
  • Raffle sponsors offer one or more prizes that will be given to randomly selected Anvilites who write at least 10,000 words.

You can be both a special category and a raffle sponsor, or you can choose just one option. Either way, while we’ll help you reach out to your winners and manage the raffle prize draw, you will be in charge of delivering the actual prize to your winners!

HOW CAN I BECOME A WORLDEMBER SPONSOR?

Becoming a community sponsor is really easy—just follow these simple steps:

  1. Check your World Anvil notifications for a link to the form.
  2. Read carefully the information at the top of the form.
  3. Fill in the form—reach each question carefully!
  4. Submit the form. We’ll confirm your sponsorship by the end of June.

Note that being a community sponsor doesn’t exclude you from any other prizes! You can’t be the winner of your own special category, but you can still win in any other prompt or in the community raffle.

If you choose to sponsor a special category, we’ll email you before December to let you know which template you’ve been allotted. And then it’s time to get reading! Additionally, judges will be able to sort by competitor status—this means you will only have to judge those who have opted in rather than everyone.

WHY SHOULD YOU BECOME A SPONSOR?

As a sponsor, you’re allowed to judge entries however you want. You could read them all, roll a die, or cast a divination spell if you’re feeling extra magical! We love our community sponsors, so you can expect shout-outs left and right. Your World Anvil name will appear on the WorldEmber challenge page, next to the category you’re sponsoring. And we’ll make sure to shout you out during the opening or closing streams, as well as in the big Awards Ceremony! But most importantly, with your judging, you’re giving back to our amazing and supportive community, one of the nicest places on the internet!
